The Legacy Bug
Representative democracy was designed in the 18th century as a technical necessity — carriages, no networks. In 2026 that code only ships state-level ghosting and 404s.
On 21/05/2026, shortly after the public pressure exerted by the fix1517.gr platform, the official guidance of the Ministry of Finance for submitting tax evasion reports by phone to 1517 was removed from gov.gr. The page now returns a 404 error. The phone line continues to operate without recording any reports. The official letter (Ref. 188600) remains unanswered for 255 days.
Reports may be submitted orally or in writing, named or anonymously.
"We don't accept reports over the phone."
After the public uproar and the 404 on gov.gr, AADE was forced to rush out an official press release to 'discontinue' the 1517 hotline.
AADE solemnly announced that the 1517 telephone line is being discontinued because the move 'is part of a broader strategic plan for faster, safer and more effective handling of reports through digital channels'.
They're lying to clean up the mess. They came out to 'strategically' shut down a line that WAS NOT working for months anyway — purely because we exposed them publicly. Staff were hanging up on citizens.
This is not 'digital modernization' — it is rushed damage control because they got caught red-handed.
Instead of a simple apology for funding a ghost call center with our taxes, they rebranded the fiasco as a 'strategic upgrade'.
Press the button. Live the experience. No charge. No solution.
They may have deleted their page and serve a 404, but they still refuse to answer my official letter. Time is counting against them.
The Ministry must publicly acknowledge that the official information on gov.gr misled citizens for over six months, and apologize to those who attempted to report tax fraud following state guidance.
Clarify exactly when and under which administrative act the 1517 line stopped recording phone reports.
You can report tax-evasion incidents named or anonymously, by one of the following means:
The page with the 1517 instructions disappeared from gov.gr a few days after fix1517.gr made noise.
The S.D.O.E. was abolished and its audit powers transferred to AADE. The four-digit 1517 was retained. The ability to file a report by phone, according to the line's own responses, was not retained. No administrative act confirming the change has been published.
This is where the joke stops and the waste of public money begins. Now that the page is deleted and the line is officially "abolished" on gov.gr, what exactly are the staff at the call center doing this morning?
How much taxpayer money does it cost to run a public structure — with buildings, infrastructure and staff — whose only operational instruction is to pick up the phone and say "hang up"?
A call center that doesn't take calls. A mechanism that doesn't perform the function it was designed for. And yet it keeps running — and costing money — as usual.
Rented or state premises, equipment, telephony
Payroll for employees who reply "we don't accept reports"
Power, maintenance, phone lines, logistics
The only instruction: "hang up". No real service.
An AADE-certified hotel ERP allows deletion of completed stays. Cash hits the till, the reservation vanishes, myDATA is bypassed.
The AADE platform throws an error and refuses the report. Whether it trips on the software vendor's tax ID, the content, or a dead endpoint — the outcome is the same: the digital path is effectively dead.
1517 refuses to take the report. Financial Police (11012) don't answer 24 logged calls.
The director of the local tax office illegally refuses to accept the document and turns the citizen away.
The full fraud complaint is filed directly with the Prosecutor. But 1517 keeps mocking the public.
With institutional paths exhausted, this platform was built. Goal: organize public pressure to break the omertà and fix 1517, so no whistleblower ends up in catch-22 again.

AADE abruptly announced the 'shutdown' of a line that had not been accepting reports for months — a decision that came right after the public exposure.

We don't swap faces, we swap a constitutional variable. We turn the entire population into the parliament, with voting rights on every bill.
We introduce Dynamic Delegation. Vote directly on what matters to you, or digitally delegate your vote to an expert — and revoke it with one click the moment they disappoint.
No partisan trenches. A single-issue movement with one purpose: enter parliament, amend the constitution via Article 110, and immediately dissolve, returning power to 100% of citizens.
If you run your business and your banks from your phone, you can run your country too. The 300 are the middlemen. Technology is here to delete them.
